Elk Hunting Nebraska

Elk was historically found throughout North America but it has been extirpated from Nebraska and much of the Great Plains in the 1880s due to consumptive uses by miners, settlers, market hunters, and others. Elk began to reappear in Nebraska in the 1960s, and then established a stable, non-migratory population that currently consists of seven (7) herds and an estimated 1,400 individuals throughout central and western Nebraska.
